Virginia Ruth Whitworth, 72 of Red Hill passed away Monday afternoon at her home.

Born March 15, 1945, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Rosie Hembree Chastain. She was the last surviving member of sixteen brothers and sisters. She was a homemaker, and a member of The Pointe Church of God. She was also very active Card Ministry sending thousands of cards over the past 35 years.

She is survived by her husband John L. "Johnny" Whitworth; two sons and dauhter-in-law, Buckey and Vickie Watkins, and Jessie Whitworth; five daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Watkins, Christine Brothers, Deborah and Randall Albertson, Jessica and Cliff Whitworth, and Joni and Brad Terry; thirteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday afternoon at 2pm at The Pointe Church of God in Toccoa, with Rev. Jerry Chitwood, and Rev. Teddy King.  Committal with Rev. Dennis Rafala and interment will be at Franklin Memorial Gardens.

The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home, and will be placed in the church at 1pm Wednesday.  The family is at the home.  The family will receive friends from 6 until 8pm Tuesday evening at the Ginn Funeral  Home.  Flowers are welcome but those wishing to make memorials  please do so to the Smokey Mountain Children's Home, 449 McCarn Circle Sevierville, TN 37862.
