Thomas Rogers

December 5, 1949 — January 9, 2026

Thomas Lawson Rogers of Suwanee, Georgia, was born on December 5, 1949, in Macon, Georgia. He was named Thomas after his Aunt Nell’s husband, T.L. Drake, whose nickname he carried, and Lawson for his grandfather, Lawson Dow Rogers. His parents were Dewitt Rogers and Ruth Kingery Rogers. He had two brothers, Charles and Malcolm, who are still living, and one sister, Tina, who is deceased.

Thomas is survived by his loving children: son T.L. Rogers Jr. and wife Stephanie; daughter Lisa and husband Woody; and his late son, Malcolm. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren—Kayla, Savannah, Ashley, Lindsey, Kristen, and Ryan—and eight great-grandchildren. His granddaughter Ashley lives in Maryland with her husband and four of Thomas’s great-grandchildren, while the rest of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren live in Warner Robins, Georgia.

He is also survived by his brothers, Charles and Malcolm; He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewitt and Ruth Rogers; his sister, Tina; his son, Malcolm; and his beloved wife of over forty years, Sandy.

Thomas was a devoted Christian who loved and trusted the Lord. He was baptized at Cherokee Heights Baptist Church in Macon.

He was remarkably intelligent—every test he ever took placed his IQ in the genius range. Yet what truly defined him was his heart. T.L. was generous and kind, always ready to lend a helping hand. He gave financial assistance to friends, coworkers, and those in need within his community.

For four years, he led a Christmas dinner project in Suwanee, asking community leaders for donations to help families who couldn’t afford holiday meals. With his own contributions and the support of volunteers he recruited, he bought and distributed pre-cooked dinners from Kroger to grateful families in need. He was deeply appreciated for his kindness.

Another of his projects brought joy to local children—collecting donations to buy, wrap, and deliver Christmas toys to families struggling to make ends meet. Though it took countless hours, T.L.’s caring heart made sure many families in Suwanee experienced happiness and hope.

Throughout his life, Thomas worked many jobs and excelled at each one. Among his many roles:

*Coca-Cola delivery service in Macon

*Dixie Bottling Company in Atlanta

*Xerox Office Equipment Sales in Atlanta, where he was recognized as the top U.S. salesman before computers became widely popular

*Construction management for businesses, homes, and apartments—including The Cove apartment complex in Toccoa, located at the corner of Collins Road and Robins Place

*City Marshal and Building Inspector for Sugar Hill, Georgia

*Real estate investor, successfully buying, selling, and renting properties

*Owner of a vending machine business for over 15 years, with machines placed throughout local restaurants, salons, and businesses

Thomas was a devoted brother, father, and family man who spoke from the heart and valued honesty above all. His love for his family and friends was unwavering.

He is loved and missed. And he is now in heaven for each of us to see again one day!
