Thomas Anthony Banks

Thomas "Tommy" Anthony Banks, age 78, of Carnesville, passed away on May 1, 2026, in Athens, Georgia.

Born on September 20, 1947, in Royston, Georgia, Tommy was the son of the late Verner Banks and Evelyn Royston Banks. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Banks. Tommy proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1968 until 1974. Following his military service, he worked for Westinghouse where he later retired. Tommy was known for his love of family, hard work, and the many friendships he made throughout his life.

He is survived by his children, Ken (Shirley) Moore of Carnesville, Theresa (Paul) Jordan of Carnesville, Sherry (Jason) Cieslukowski of Maysville, Bambie Banks and (Chris Holland) of Carnesville, and Jason Banks of Wimberley, Texas.

Tommy is also survived by his grandchildren, Justin (Katie) Hill, Tara Hatch, Miranda (David) Harned, Chance (Kristan) Moore, Candy (Spencer) Kennedy, Kasey (Matthew) Davis, Kayla (Charles) Cates, Caitlin (Bryce) Esco, Nikki (Douglas) Morgan, Jonathan (Katie) Ballard, Ashley (Nick) Patrick, Wendy (Tyler) Reed, Gabe (Avery) Hudson, Abbi Martin, Raine Hiott, Meghan Banks, Maddie Banks, and David Banks . He was also blessed with 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his children and grandchildren, Tommy is survived by his siblings, Lanny (Sandy) Banks of Carnesville and Elaine (Charles) Honea of Carnesville; along with a special dear friend, Paulette Whiting of Royston.

Visitation will be held at Ginn Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday May 6, 2026 at Middle River Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Davison officiating. Graveside services will follow at Middle River Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
