Roy Neal

Albert “Roy” Neal, age 93, of Carnesville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, in Toccoa, Georgia.

Born on February 5, 1933, in Alpine, Tennessee, Roy was the son of the late Albert Sylvester Neal and Bertha Smith Neal.

Roy was a chemical engineer and a successful businessman who owned and operated his own business selling industrial coatings. He was a devoted member of Franklin County Church of Christ. Roy dedicated much of his life to sharing his faith and served as a preacher and elder for various Churches of Christ throughout the area for 40 years.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his first wife, Laverne Neal of Carnesville; daughter, Sheryl Neal of Toccoa; grandsons, Allen Cobb of Woodland, California, and Joshua Isaacs of Youngin, South Korea; and siblings, Antha Gibbons, James Rowe Neal, Cecil Ruell Neal, Gladda Amonett, and Exie Harris.

Roy is survived by his wife, Wanda Neal of Carnesville; children, Roy (Janet) Neal Jr. of St. Simons, Georgia, and Sue (Mike) Tanner of Green Cove Springs, Florida; grandchildren, Kevin (Jennifer) Cobb of Toccoa, Samantha Tanner of Hood River, Oregon, Ashley Tanner of Demorest, Georgia, Stephanie (Cale) of St. Simons, Georgia, and Barrett (Olivia) Neal of St. Simons, Georgia; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Franklin County Church of Christ at a later date. Service arrangements will be announced when they become available. The family request that in Lieu of flowers donations be made to Freedom Hill Recovery in Demorest or Franklin County Church of Christ in Franklin Springs.
