Robert Jerry Cavender, age 87, passed away on October 24, 2025, at his daughter's home in Eastanollee, Georgia.
Robert was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to John Robert Cavender and Mary Nichols. He married Mozelle Cavender of Stone Mountain. Robert worked for Delta Airlines, and the Decatur post Office. He later retired from Dekalb County Police Department and then worked for Stone Mountain Police Department for several years. He enjoyed being a police officer and telling stories about his police work. After he retired he enjoyed fishing and traveling with his wife Mozelle and other family members. He loved his family and grandkids very much and also loved his many pets. He and Mozelle were married 65 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his son-in-law, Tom Cowart and daughter-in-law Janet Cavender.
Robert is survived by his wife, Ada Cavender of Eastanollee, Georgia; daughters Kathy (George) Rea of Gray Court, South Carolina, and Connie Cowart of Eastanollee; and son Ronald (Laura) Cavender of Toccoa. Grandchildren include Jessica Leviner (Josh) of Charlotte, N.C, Ashley Rea of Gray Court, SC; Sara (Jeremy) Loadholdt of Mt. Holly, North Carolina; Clint (Hannah) Cowart of Hull, GA; Christopher Cavender of Kennesaw, Georgia; and Amanda Cavender of Denver, North Carolina. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Henry Loadholdt.
Visitation will be held at Ginn Funeral Home on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
Funeral services will follow at Ginn Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Paul Garner officiating.
Graveside services will be held at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain, Georgia, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's honor to the Wounded Warrior Project.
