Ricky Thurmond

Ricky Lynn Thurmond, age 67, of Auburn, Georgia, passed away on October 27, 2025, in Braselton, Georgia.

Ricky was born in Toccoa, Georgia, to Hubert Thurmond and Beuna Waldon Johnson. He married the late Barbara Golden of Riverdale, Georgia. Ricky retired from Scientific Atlanta.

Ricky had a passion for UGA football and always enjoyed bowling, a pastime he loved even when health challenges prevented him from continuing in recent years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Junior Thurmond; his wife, Barbara Golden Thurmond; and his brother, Barry Thurmond.

Ricky is survived by his mother, Beuna Johnson, of Braselton; his brother, Anthony (Terri) Thurmond of Statham; and his sister, Lorri Conyla Thurmond of Carnesville. Nieces and nephews include Dakota Thurmond of Braselton; Tyler (Jade) Thurmond of Hoschton; Brittany (Matt) Mobley of Statham; Andrew (Sarah) Thurmond of Washington, D.C.; David (Devyn) Janes of Buford; Mandi (Allen) Head of Martin; and Miranda Bray of Martin. He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Ginn Funeral Home from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Funeral services for Ricky will be held at Ginn Funeral Home on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., with Brandon Crunkelton officiating. Graveside services will follow at Allen's United Methodist Church Cemetery.
