Richard Dudley Swindell

Richard Dudley Swindell, age 82, of Lavonia, passed away on May 16, 2026, in Watkinsville,GA.

Born in Augusta, GA on December 10, 1943, he was the son of the late Harry Charles Swindell Sr. and Eleanor Little Swindell. Richard worked in construction for many years and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was of the Presbyterian faith and was a member of Grant-Reeves Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7720.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother, Timothy Swindell; brothers, Leland Swindell of Carnesville, Robert "Bobby" Swindell of Savannah, and Jerry Swindell of Carnesville.

Richard is survived by his children, Lisa Luke of Flowery Branch and Chris (My-Thu Tran) Swindell of San Diego; grandchildren, Conner Luke, John Patrick Luke, and Lydia Luke, all of Flowery Branch; siblings, Charles Swindell of Winder, David Swindell of Texas, and Eleanor Tarr of Athens; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at VFW Memorial Park Cemetery on Smith Loop Road in Demorest.
