Mary Roberts

Mary Louise Royston Roberts of Carnesville, Georgia, age 78, passed away on December 17, 2025, in Athens, Georgia.

Mary was born in Royston, GA to the late Early Leroy and Annie Sue McElroy Royston. Mary married Steve Wiley Roberts of Carnesville on August 13, 1966. Mary retired from Milliken as a quality control operator and was also a retired master cosmetologist. Mary loved working in her flower garden and found peace and pride in caring for her flowers and plants. She enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors, especially when shared with her family. Mary also loved cooking and preparing meals for those she cared for, always finding joy in bringing people together around the table. She especially delighted in watching the hummingbirds that visited her feeders, a passtime that brought her happiness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Early and Annie Sue Royston of Royston, GA; her brother, Ronnie Leroy Royston of Royston, GA;  and brother-in-law, Dale Boles.

Mary is survived by her husband, Steve Roberts; her daughter, Regina Lynn Roberts Carter of Carnesville, GA; her grandchildren, Steven David Carter of Carnesville, Katelyn Brooke Carter of Carnesville; her sister, Connie Ann Royston Boles of Royston, GA; sister-in-law, Florine Royston of Royston; brothers-in-law, David (Freida) Roberts of Carnesville and Dale Roberts of Joneboro, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Her wishes were to be cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
