Mary Viola McBath, age 77, of Carnesville, GA, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavonia, GA.
Born on June 29, 1948, in Royston, GA, she was the daughter of Jim McBath Sr. and Lula Kay McBath. Mary was a dedicated member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church, located in the Red Hill area of Carnesville, GA . She retired after many years of service with the Franklin County School System. She enjoyed singing with her family, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and had a deep passion for flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim McBath Sr. and Lula Kay McBath, and her siblings George Patat and Kay Patat. And her Husbands William Hemphill of Kennesaw and her second husband David West of Rex, Ga.
Mary is survived by her children: Amy and Bobby Hanley of Carnesville, and Glen West of Carnesville; her grandchildren Jonathan, Luke, Emma, and Joshua Hanley of Carnesville; and her brother Jim McBath and his wife Floyce, also of Carnesville. She is additionally remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held at Ginn Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Red Hill, followed by graveside services at the church cemetery.
