Mary Ann Ginn Taylor, age 96, passed away on April 22, 2024 in Athens, GA.
Mary Ann was born in Carnesville, GA to Buford (BD) and Gussie Martin Ginn. Mary Ann married Jack Taylor of Toccoa. She was an educator for 38 years in Cumberland County North Carolina public schools. She was a member of Sunshine Methodist Church. She was a beloved mother and grandmother who always gave sacrificially to her family with her time and talents. She was a teacher, farmer, seamstress and cook. Her home was a haven for family and friends, and she cared for the grandchildren in the summertime while Jack was out tending to the farm. She passed down a wealth of knowledge and skills to the next three generations and beyond.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Taylor, father, BD Ginn, mother, Gussie Ginn, and brother, Robert Ginn.
She is survived by children Lynn & The Honorable Harvey Wasserman, Kenny and Faye Taylor, Jeffery and Aline Taylor, her grandchildren Justin and Kayla Markman, Jack Wasserman, Jacob Taylor, Brittany and Joseph Lewis, Jennifer & Justin Davenport, Megan and Trent Ivester, Garrett and Elise Taylor, her great- grandchildren Mary Markman, William Markman, Aiden Taylor, Bella Taylor, Cailyn Taylor, Hananiah Lewis, Pelaiah Lewis, Hosanna Lewis, Gavi Lewis, Belle Ivester, Cora Ivester, Fayeth Ivester and Samuel Taylor.
Visitation will be held Wednesday the 24th from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Sunshine Methodist Church. The service will be held immediately following visitation at 3:00 PM at Sunshine Methodist church with Dr. Bill Hyndman officiating. Burial will follow at Sunshine Methodist cemetery at 04:00 PM.
