Marianne Murphy

Marianne Carnes Murphy, age 84, of Carnesville, passed away on July 25, 2025.

Marianne was born in Carnesville to J. B. and Bobbie Cantrell Carnes. She married Charles Murphy of Carnesville and devoted many years as a homemaker. Marianne was an active member of Middle River Baptist Church, where she joyfully served as a Sunday school teacher and VBS instructor for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Murphy; her parents, J. B. and Bobbie Carnes; and her son, Chuck Murphy.

Marianne is survived by her son, Rocky and his wife Anna Murphy of Carnesville; her daughter‑in‑law, Sherrell Murphy of Carlton, GA; grandchildren Gavin (Bentley) Murphy of Carnesville, Rhett (Becca) Murphy of Homer, Brock (Haley) Murphy of Gainesville, Matthew (Mallory) Murphy of Bowersville, and Cole (Laney) Murphy of Hartwell; and great‑grandchildren Creed, Rhaema, Josie, Lexie, Liam Lucarell, and Tatum Murphy. She also leaves behind her brother, Billy Jo, and sister‑in‑law Faye Carnes.

Visitation will be held at Middle River Baptist Church on Monday, July 28, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed immediately by funeral services in the church sanctuary at 12:00 PM, with Pastor John Swanger officiating. Graveside services will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens, and a family meal will be served afterward in the Fellowship Hall of Middle River Baptist Church.
