Lewis Laird

Raymond Lewis Laird, age 79, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Hart Care Center in Hartwell, Georgia.

Lewis was born on May 26, 1946, in Zellwood, Florida, to the late James Wilbur Laird and Jewel Reeves Laird. He worked for many years at E.T. Cole Farms in the poultry industry and was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving with the 211th Blackhorse Cavalry in Vietnam from 1969 until 1970.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Edward Laird, and John Laird; and his brother-in-law, Talmadge Cole.

Survivors include his sister, Eloise Laird Cole of Carnesville; brother, Gene and Angie Laird of Ocoee, Florida; sister-in-law, Joan Laird of Lavonia; and several nieces and nephews.

Private family services were held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Franklin Memorial Gardens North in Lavonia, Georgia, with his nephew, Rev. Alan Cole, presiding.
