John Fountain

John Junior Fountain, age 92, passed away on June 22, 2025, at his home in Sandy Cross.

John was born in the Bold Springs Community on April 18, 1933, to George and Julie Dowell Fountain. He married Mary Page Fountain on May 16, 1957. John worked for Monroe‑Tennoco for 36 years, and throughout his life, he also farmed and served as a TV and radio repairman. He proudly served as a medic in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, tending to his livestock, and taking long drives on his Gator through the Sandy Cross community. John was active in the local area, serving as Director of the Sandy Cross Community Center, where he raised funds and secured educational grants for the community.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Fountain; parents, George and Julie Dowell Fountain; daughter, Rhonda Fountain-Barton and siblings Frances Fountain, Robert & Florence Fountain, Jean & Jimmy Parten, Clyde & Susie Bond, and Roger Fountain.

John is survived by his children: Karen & Jimmy Balchin, Greg & Connie Fountain, and Keith & Pam Fountain (all of Royston); grandchildren Brandon Williams, Travis & Morgan Balchin, Brittani & Breanna Balchin, Ryan Jones, Maci Jones, Taylor & Kristen Fountain, Megan & Thomas Holcombe, Brandon Phillips, Melissa & Corey Hart, Brad & Lora Fountain, and Kristie & Matthew Harrell; and great-grandchildren Taylor Fountain Jr., Mallory, Baileigh, Jase, Kenzie, Kenadie, Emma, Hunter, Dixie, Gunner, Berkley, Austyn, Lily, Lakelyn, Maci, Allyssa, Greyson, Sebastian, Gideon, and Paxton. He is also survived by his siblings Cora Mae & Parks Aldridge (Charlotte, NC), Troy & Geraldine Seagraves, Jimmie Lou Bennett (Dainesville), Bobby & Susan Fountain, Berry & Johnnie Merle Fountain (Madison County), Tommy & Barbara Fountain (Sandy Cross), and sister-in-law Alpha Fountain (Hartwell).

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Ginn Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Kenny Davison and Rev. Glynn Lyles. Visitation is scheduled from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Cary Memorial Gardens in Sandy Cross.
