Jeannette Lewallen, age 84, of Carnesville, Georgia, passed away on July 20, 2025, at AnMed in Anderson, South Carolina.
Jeannette was born on October 11, 1940, in the Bold Spring Community to Buren Bellamy and Clarice Mize Bellamy. She married Max Lewallen of the Nails Creek community. Jeannette was a woman of deep faith and an even deeper love for her family. She made a lasting impression on hundreds of children during her years as an educator in Banks and Franklin counties. She also served the church as a pianist for many years and was a dedicated Community Bible Study (CBS) leader in Lavonia, Ga.
But most of all, Jeannette was a proud UGA graduate who loved cheering on the Bulldogs during football season. After retiring from the Franklin County School System, she was a member of several retired educators’ groups and remained actively involved in Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK), an international honorary organization for women educators dedicated to promoting educational excellence, altruism, and fellowship. She also had a great love for traveling, dining out, birdwatching, and tending to her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Clarice Bellamy; her husband, Max Lewallen; her son, Timothy Lewallen; and her brothers, Milton, David, and Roger Bellamy.
She is survived by her daughters, Toni S. Lewallen of Carnesville, Georgia, and Traci L. Dulaney (David) of Anderson, South Carolina; granddaughter, Nora K. Dulaney; brother, Wilton (Brenda) Bellamy of Carnesville; and sister, Wanda (Thomas) Watts of Warner Robins, Georgia; and sister in law Sylvia Bellamy of Carnesville; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
