Jeanne Wiley Hunter (95) passed Jeanne away peacefully the morning of August 21, 2025 , surrounded by loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Robert H. “Rabbit” Hunter, and her two sons, Fred Michael and James Paul.
Jeanne was born in Rock Hill, SC and attended Brevard High School. She and Bob married in 1947 and lived their lives raising their children in Brevard. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and later the English Chapel. She was an advocate for the March of Dimes, member of the Brevard Jaycettes, PTA, and served many years as “room mom” for her children. She was the executive housekeeper at the Transylvania Community Hospital for 20 years and was a staple in assisting Bob start Hunter Heating and Air and Outhouse.
She enjoyed reading, weekly lunches with friends, daily Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, watching the birds out the window, doing puzzles and playing cards with her family. She was fond of music from her church Hymnal, Barry Manilow, Michael Bublé, and Clay Aiken. Her and Bob enjoyed social events getting up to Jitterbug to songs the grew up with and putting a smile on everyone’s face that was in attendance. She and Bob were avid travelers, going to all 50 states and Australia.
Jeanne was a kind, loving, and forever giving lady. Her loving family was always close and tried to mirror her in many ways. Family traditions started early in her children’s lives and remain as they stood by her side when the Lord called her Home. She will be forever missed but we are thankful for the many great memories.
She is survived by her three remaining children, Sharon Arnold of Buford, GA, Catherine Barber of Clearwater, FL, and Robert Cleveland Hunter of Tucker, GA. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her Jeanne Ju.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, where her son, Michael, was blessed to be cared for while conquering Polio. Lovetotherescue.org/thankyou or P.O. Box 1510, Ransom, WV 25438-1510.
