James Clyde Slaton, age 90, of the Double Churches community, passed away on July 20, 2025, in Baldwin, Georgia.
James was born in Carnesville on May 26, 1935, to William Euston Slaton and Maybelle (Kennedy) Slaton. He worked as a sheetrock installer and was a man of few words.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Euston Slaton; his mother, Maybelle Kennedy Slaton; his sister, Hilda McKillip his brothers, Darvin, Howard, and Marvin Slaton; his nephews, Jeffery and Greg Slaton; and his niece, Tammy Jo Slaton.
James is survived by his brother, Glen Slaton of Alpharetta, Georgia; nephews and nieces: Jeff Slaton of Carnesville; Kimberly Farmer of Dalton; Glen Jr. Slaton and Tracy Burns of Cumming; Monica Sullenberger, Teresa Fergerson, and Keitha Lackey of Florida; Patrick McKillip, Melissa Backus, and Jessica McKillip of Virginia; Todd Slaton of Texas; Keith Slaton of Athens, and Eddy Slaton of Douglasville, Georgia; as well as numerous great‑nieces and great‑nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Ginn Funeral Home.
A funeral service for James Slaton will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the Ginn Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Tommy Childress.
