Hugh C. Murphy

Hugh Carson Murphy, 86, of Carnesville died May 8th, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.

Born August 9th, 1938, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Charles Finley Murphy, Sr. and Ostine Andrews Murphy. Hugh worked for General Telephone Company for 23 years, U.S. Postal Service for 17 years, and as a farmer. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Carnesville, GA, where he previously served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent.

Hugh was preceded in death by an infant brother, Charles Finley Murphy, Jr., and a son, Larry Murphy. He is survived by his wife off 66 years, Frances Payne Murphy; a son, Jeff Murphy; a daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Kent Hall; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Maxwell - Murphy; two granddaughters, Kalie Blevins (Seth) and Cassie Hall; two great-grandsons, Larkin and Josiah Blevins; and a sister, Peggy Ayers (Henry), and his faithful dog, Charlie.

Funeral services will be held May 10th, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Liberty Baptist Church in Carnesville, GA, with Rev. Alan Cole and Rev. John Swanger officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for visitation at 10:00 AM prior to the funeral. Burial will follow the funeral in the church cemetery.
