Mr. Hoyt Young Jameson, age 97 of Defoor Road, Toccoa passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2026, surrounded by family at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
A son of the late Samuel Young Jameson and Dessie Frady Jameson, he was born June 28, 1929, in Habersham County, Georgia having lived in Franklin County (proud member of the Red Hill Community) before moving to Stephens County. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. His employment included WABCO for 27 years, Gilbert and Bennet for 14 years and Georgia Baptist Assembly for 12 years. He was a member of Broad River Baptist Church and served as a Deacon of the church. He loved gardening, mowing lawns and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Wilson Jameson in 2008 and by his siblings, Harold Jameson, Odis Jameson, Garnett Jameson, Pearl Looney and Beatrice Slocum.
He is survived by his wife, Luella Middleton Jameson of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Carol Jameson of Clarkesville, Georgia and Marie and Jason Hughes of Westminster, South Carolina; grandchildren, Clay (Bailee) Livingston, Kylie Sturgill, Adam (Aubrey) Warner and Emilie Warner; great-granddaughter, Tessa Livingston; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Paul and Betty Jameson of Toccoa; sisters, Maggie Walters of Gulf Shores, Alabama and Stella Ray of Alpharetta, Georgia; step-children, Sandra (Barry) Maher, Bonnie (Ron) Heckert, Harold (Kaye) Rhoades and Douglas (Sharon) Rhoades; step-grandchildren, Tori and John, Mila, Denni, Ashley, Meg, Sean, Amy, Eli, Zach, Grayson, Lexy, Ceara and Mike, Gavin and Colin; and several step great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Broad River Baptist Church with The Reverend Brandon Crunkleton officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Clay Livingston, Adam Warner, Brandon Peace, Jason Hughes, Doug Andrews and Doug Warner. Emilie Warner and Kylie Sturgill will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will follow in the Broad River Baptist Church Cemetery with The Reverend Tim Whited officiating. Military Honors by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the V.F.W. Post 4346 Honor Guard.
