Dorothy Layton

Dorothy Kennedy Layton of Commerce, passed away May 31, 2024 in Royston GA.

Born April 26, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Doc and Mozzell Kennedy. She was the wife of the late Tommy Layton. She was the sister of the late John Kennedy, Lucy Saylors, Doris Bond, David Kennedy and Lamar Thomas. She retired from Boaz Manufacturing. And was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by three sons and daughter-in law, Kenneth and Conti Layton, Carnesville, James Layton, Atlanta, and Robert Layton, Carnesville; two daughters and son-in-law, Therresa and Chuck Rust, Lake Lure NC, and Lisa L. Addison, Lavonia; ten grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren. Brother James Kennedy and sisters Geneva Alexander, Juantia Thompson, and Virgina Kennedy.

Services will be Sunday at 3pm at the B D Ginn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Byron Kennedy. Interment will be in Hunters Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimbo Oros, Stevie Oros, David Thompson, Mike Thompson, Chris Thompson and Colby Ayers.

The family will receive friends from 1 till 3 on Sunday at the funeral home with the service following afterwards. Condolences may be left at ginnfuneralhome.com.
