David passed away, Tuesday, July 22nd, surrounded by loved ones, after a long battle with cancer.

David was born at Camp Lejeune on July 22, 1952. He was raised in Portsmouth, Virginia, where he spent most of his time on the Chesapeake Bay, testing parental limits with his life-long friends.

David attended Georgia Military College and received an academic award for excellence in the study of military history. He graduated from Georgia College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1976. He served on active duty in the US Army as a squad leader with the Second Infantry Division in Korea from 1973-1974. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for distinguished service. He attended John Marshall Law School in Atlanta and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1979. He served with the Georgia Department of Transportation as staff attorney and as a State Hearing Officer. He was appointed a professional lecturer with the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council teaching courses in evidence, constitutional law, administrative search and seizure, courtroom demeanor and testimony and civil liability under color of law. He served as Section Chair for the Administrative Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia, and President of the Georgia Association of the Administrative Judiciary. He was very proud to be one of the original Judges at OSAH.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Guay Langston, of Smoke Rise, GA; Son’s Nathaniel Chandler Langston, Michael David Langston, and Patrick Shannon Langston of Smoke Rise, GA; Daughter, Meredith Barbara Langston, of Atlanta, GA and loyal dog, Trina. He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Lawrence Langston, and his parents Isaac Chandler Langston and Mary Godra Langston. He is also survived by his two brothers: Donald S. Langston of Pittsburgh, PA and Daniel A. Langston of Milledgeville, GA, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Family will honor his service wishes privately.
