Charles Frank Rutherford

Charles Rutherford, age 89, of Lavonia, Georgia, passed away at his home on June 8, 2026.

Born on September 7, 1936, in Copper Hill, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Raymond Rutherford and Pauline Rutherford. Mr. Rutherford proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era for four years. He later worked for General Motors, where he retired after many years of service.

Charles was a member of Providence Church in Hart County. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janette Cobb Rutherford; son, Mark Rutherford; and siblings, Mary Early, Kenneth Rutherford, and Gene Rutherford.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan Chapman (Ron) of Lavonia; daughter-in-law, Lisa Rutherford of Lavonia; grandchildren, Trever Rutherford (Travia) of Lavonia, and Cole Rutherford (Catlin) of Lavonia; great-grandchild, Cirilla Rutherford; and brother, Donald Rutherford of McCaysville, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Ginn Funeral Home with Donnie Bowman presiding. Interment will follow in Providence Church Cemetery in Hart County.

The family will receive friends at Ginn Funeral Home on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.
