Bobby “Dark Horse” Hudler, age 77, passed away on August 17, 2025, at AnMed Hospital in Anderson, South Carolina.
Bobby was born on December 8, 1947, in New Bern, North Carolina, to John Ivy Hudler and Louise Thompson Hudler. He married Clara Hudler of Duluth, Georgia on August 5th 1983. He was widely known for crafting handmade Native American drums and was also recognized for his skill and expertise in drywall installation and finishing.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Hudler, his mother, Louise Thompson Hudler, Son David Whaley. His siblings, Josephine Rochel and Allen Hudler.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Clara Hudler, of Carnesville. He is also survived by his children Stephen Whaley of Griffin, Georgia, and his former spouse Kerri Whaley of Carnesville; Stacy Hudler Chase of New Bern, North Carolina Doug and Buffey Whaley of Commerce.
Bobby was a cherished grandfather to Allison (Zack) Evans of Royston, Georgia; Chance (Chasey) Whaley of Canon; Cheyenne (Lee Lawson) Whaley of Carnesville; Dawson (Tiffany) Whaley of Carnesville; Megan (Jonathan) Willis of Carnesville; Will (Madison Epps) Whaley of Danielsville; and Kailyn Chase of New Bern, North Carolina. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Braxton, Khyler, Falyn, and Parker. And sister Margaret Metts of New Bern, NC. Along with many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
