Betty Ann Wood Akin, 80, of the Red Hill Community, passed away Friday evening, July 3, 2020, at the St Mary's Hospice House Watkinsville.

Born November 16, 1939 in Banks County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Andrew and Icie Buford Chatham Wood. She was the widow of the late James Pruitt Akin, and was the sister of the late Mary Pruitt and Elnora Lord.  She taught at Franklin County High School for many years. She was a member of Allens United Methodist Church.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, James and Kelly Akin, Martin; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Keith Hall, Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Justin & Kelli, Ansley & Bobby, Alyssa, and Drew; great-grandchild, Sydney; brothers, Kenneth Wood and Milton Wood of Mauldin, SC, Dan Wood, Martin; sisters, Barbara Taylor, Mauldin SC, and Rhonda Wheeler, Toccoa.

Private family services will be held with interment in Allens United Methodist Church. Friends are invited to pay their respects from 2 until 5pm Sunday afternoon at the Ginn Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Allens United Methodist Church, or the St Marys Hospice in Watkinsville, GA.
