Betty Wansley

Betty Lois Thompson Wansley, age 94, of Carnesville, GA, passed away Friday morning, December 12, 2025, at The Veranda of Carnesville.

Born September 8, 1931, in Franklin, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Willie Otto and Miranda Cabe Thompson. She and her husband, the late Jack Wansley, were married for 56 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church and the Jack Gober Sunday School class. She loved gardening, painting, and fishing, and she dearly loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; her sister, Florence Irene Griffith; and her brothers, Hugh Thompson, James Thompson, Bill Ray Thompson, and Bruce Thompson.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Cindy Hemphill Wansley of Martin, GA; her daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Tom Hicks of Cartersville, GA; grandchildren, Brandon McCarter Wansley of Carnesville, Jordan Richard Wansley and wife Hillary of Martin, Elizabeth Hicks Benscoter and husband Billy of Cartersville, GA, and Wesley Travis Hicks and wife Jamie of Acworth, GA; great-grandchildren, Brynley Elizabeth Wansley of Carnesville, GA, Avery Alice Wansley of Martin, GA, Jack Richard Wansley of Martin, GA, Jacqueline Jane Benscoter of Cartersville, GA, and Hallie Anne Hicks of Acworth, GA.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Cross Roads Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Cleveland officiating. Interment will follow at Broad River Baptist Church. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
